The entries that follow deal with general issues of history, culture and environment that transcend the framework of the particular islands and present the issues under examination under a wider perspective.

The “identity” of each entry defines the spatial and temporal framework, in which each issue is placed, while its narrative presentation is developed in the “main body” of the entry. Due to the variety of issues, the structure of the entries is not characterized by uniformity, but depends on the demands of the issue they deal with.

Finally, the entries are accompanied, as the entries on the islands, by supplementary categories of data (bibliography, webliography, glossary etc) and multimedia applications.
